CORVALLIS, Ore. - The Oregon State University Extension Service will offer a two-day online workshop to help community groups and agencies show how they contribute to the economy as they gear up to ask elected officials for funding.

The first part will be offered Jan. 25 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and the second half will take place Feb. 1, also from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Bruce Sorte, a community economist for the OSU Extension Service and OSU's rural studies program, will teach the sessions, which will feature interactive activities and group projects. The classes will be delivered live via Adobe Connect web conferencing software, allowing people to participate from their home computers. For a more interactive group experience, people can also participate by using computers at eight Extension Service offices throughout the state (listed below).

Participants will learn to tell their organization's story to community constituents and elected officials as well as calculate their organization's value and financial worth to its local community and the state.

To learn more, register and reserve a spot at a community computer lab, go to ecampus.oregonstate.edu/pse. The course costs $50. Group discounts are available upon inquiry.
