CORVALLIS, Ore. - Auditions for the annual student-directed Spring One-Act Festival will be held April 11-12, from 5 to 9 p.m., at Oregon State University's Withycombe Lab Theatre.
Auditions will consist of improvisation games and cold-readings. The festival includes four original scripts written by OSU students.
The One-Act Festival will be held May 25-29. Actors involved with the festival are required to attend all performance dates, the tech week (May 20-24), and the post-show strike after the closing performance. Other rehearsal times and commitments will vary depending upon the role, the show, and the director, but participants should expect to rehearse at least 10-15 hours per week if cast.
The plays include two dramas and two comedies. "Behind Bars" by Jordyn Patton, is a drama taking place in a prison where Jay, a young inmate is taught how to survive by his cellmate, Cody. "Southern Firelight" by Aaron Kopperman, is a post-Civil War drama about a white lynch-mob leader who becomes trapped in a cave-in with a young African-American man. "Maverick," by Sarah McKenney, is a quirky, comedy about a man haunted by visions of an eccentric lifelong imaginary friend. "Hint," by Colin Fant is a witty murder-mystery where six colorful characters meet at the home of their former partner to solve a mystery.
Auditions are open to all OSU students and Corvallis community members. Scripts are available for check-out at the Theatre Arts office in Withycombe 145 from Angie Weeks.
