CORVALLIS, Ore. - The 18th annual Wheel-A-Thon at Oregon State University, scheduled this year from May 26-28, will feature the OSU men's basketball team and other special guests competing in an obstacle course.
The Wheel-A-Thon is an annual fundraiser to raise awareness for people with disabilities. Wheel-A-Thon is a timed 20-minute obstacle course where teams of six to 10 participants try to maneuver through the course as fast as possible in a wheelchair. The races will be happening from noon to 6 p.m. each day.
OSU coach Craig Robinson and the basketball team will compete at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 28. Benny Beaver will also be there to entertain the crowds.
All donations benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Exercise Program and IMPACT (Individualized Movement and Physical Activity for Children Today) program at OSU.
The exercise program connects community members diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis with student volunteers twice a week to work on an individualized exercise program. The IMPACT program matches local children with disabilities with OSU students who interact and lead the children in a variety of activities once a week.
Persons wishing to help can donate money or prizes for the event or make teams to participate. There will be T-shirts available to purchase, and games and prizes for those that don't have teams, but just want to show up and show their support.
