CORVALLIS, Ore.- Students, alumni, and community members are invited to attend the annual Homecoming bonfire and pep rally, hosted by the Student Alumni Association will host its on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in the Callahan parking lot on the east side of the Oregon State University campus.
The event, an Oregon State University tradition, features a 2,000-cubic-foot bonfire and is intended to build school spirit before the Homecoming game on Oct. 31. Members of the OSU cheerleading squad, marching band, and football team will make appearances. KBVR-FM will provide music and will broadcast live from the event. Hot chocolate and other light refreshment will be served.
The Associated Students of Oregon State University and ASOSU cosponsor the event, where the 2009 Homecoming king and queen will be announced. The event also serves as a check in point for a Homecoming spirit competition going on that week between campus organizations.
The event is part of the larger Homecoming week that also features the annual spirit competition, a parade on Oct. 31, and a performance of "Thriller" in Reser Stadium on Oct. 31 to attempt to break the record. Information about all Homecoming events can be found at www.osualum.com/homecoming.
"The Bonfire and Pep Rally is a great tradition to be a part of at Oregon State University," says Douglas Van Bossuyt, event chair for the Student Alumni Association. "This year, the event will be even bigger and better than in years past."
