CORVALLIS, Ore. – Karla Chambers, co-owner of Stahlbush Island Farms, will give a talk on “What Entrepreneurs Can Learn from Agriculture” on Thursday, May 21, at Oregon State University.

The event, which begins at noon in the Construction and Engineering Auditorium of LaSells Stewart Center, is free and open to the public.

As an entrepreneur and fourth-generation Oregon farmer, Chambers has helped her husband build a successful 5,000 acre farming and food processing operation. They grow and process fruits and vegetables for sale under their consumer brands “Stahlbush Island Farms” and “Farmers Market.”

Corvallis-based Stahlbush Island Farms is 100 percent certified sustainable and certified organic in its farming operation. The company has a commitment to minimizing the impact on air, soil and ground water resources. Chambers will also discuss how sustainable farming is a sound business model. The company’s vision of agriculture has allowed it to successfully expand its farming operation and sell its products throughout the United States and 20 export countries.

 The event is sponsored by the Austin Entrepreneurship Program of the OSU College of Business, and the Agricultural & Resource Economics Department, OSU College of Agricultural Sciences.
