CORVALLIS, Ore. – Author Max S. Power will deliver a lecture titled “America’s Nuclear Wastelands” on Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 4 p.m. at Oregon State University.

The lecture, which begins at 4 p.m. in Memorial Union 109B, will address the complex issues of public policy, cleanup, and accountability that are involved in the cleanup of nuclear weapons production, including the Hanford Nuclear Reservation.

Located along the Columbia River near Richland, Wash., Hanford Nuclear Reservation was the military production facility for plutonium and is now the largest environmental remediation project in human history.

Power is the author of the 2008 book “America’s Nuclear Wastelands,” published by Washington State University Press. Power is a government consultant with a long career in Pacific Northwest nuclear waste issues. He is a former Rhodes Scholar, Yale University Fellow, and Danforth Fellow. Power serves on the Oregon Hanford Cleanup Board and on the Hanford Concerns Council.
