CORVALLIS, Ore. – Oregon State University Theatre will present Tony Kushner’s award-winning play, “Angels in America: Millennium Approaches,” beginning Nov. 8 at OSU’s Withycombe Hall.

“Angels in America” tracks the lives of several individuals: Joe Pitt, a young man trying to make his way in the world of politics, his valium-addicted and unhappy wife Harper, Pryor Walter who may be dying of AIDS, his partner Louis who simply cannot deal with Pryor’s illness, Roy Cohn, Republican lawyer and politico, and numerous other characters.

Set in New York City in the mid-1980s, Tony Kushner’s seven-hour play was turned into a miniseries for HBO, which was directed by Mike Nichols (“The Graduate”). The television production won numerous Golden Globe awards.

There will be a discussion of the play at the Women’s Center on the OSU campus at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15.

“Angels in America” is not suitable for children, according to University Theatre officials, and contains language and situations which some people may find objectionable.

Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8-10 and Nov. 15-17. Tickets are priced at $10, $8, and $5 for all students and are available at http://oregonstate.edu/dept/theatre or at the box office in Withycombe Hall on campus.
