SALEM, Ore. – The Oregon 4-H Conference and Education Center, which is located eight miles northwest of Salem, will host an open house Saturday, May 19.
The center sits among more than 320 acres of mixed forests, meadows and ponds.
The morning of the event provides an opportunity for potential youth camp counselors to learn new skills in leadership development. Several classes will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon, including: techniques for supporting younger campers in a residential camp environment; learning to use team building tools; and hands-on practice with educational kits available for teaching natural resource topics.
The afternoon kicks off with a free lunch and public tours of the center and its grounds. Individuals and families may tour the facilities and try out camp activities including canoeing, adventure swing, crafts, nature hikes, archery and horse camp.
All activities are free. Registration is required by May 9. For more information or a registration form call OSU Extension Service Linn County at 541-967-3871, or email robin.galloway@oregonstate.edu
