CORVALLIS, Ore. - Political quarrels around the world that relate to genetically engineering crops are the focus of a lecture this Thursday, April 20, at Oregon State University.

Martina Newell-McGloughlin, director of the University of California's system-wide Biotechnology Research and Education Program will speak on the OSU campus as part of the Food for Thought lecture series. Her talk, "Political Battles over Biotech Crops," begins at 7 p.m. in LaSells Stewart Center. It is free and open to the public.

In her talk, she will address key players in the political battles, analyze their tactics, and discuss the role of science.

The lecture is supported by the OSU College of Agricultural Sciences and the OSU College of Forestry.
