CORVALLIS, Ore. - A new short film which profiles wave energy research at Oregon State University premieres Thursday, April 13, on the Oregon Public Affairs Network (OPAN).

"Wave Power: The Potential of Oregon's Ocean Energy" was produced by Oregon Sea Grant. It provides interviews with the research leaders - OSU professors Annette von Jouanne and Alan Wallace - as well as with representatives of industry, government and coastal communities.

The 14-minute video leads the evening broadcast, which starts at 6 p.m. OPAN broadcasts on channel 27 in Corvallis/Philomath/Lewisburg; other channels and times can be located online at www.opan.org.

Energy from ocean waves could power the planet, if a reliable technology could be developed. Wave energy technology being developed at OSU is a leading contender for harnessing that power and has captured the attention of industry, communities and Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski, who in a recent visit to campus said, "This remarkable technology is part of my vision for energy independence and renewable energy in Oregon."
