THE DALLES - Small grains producers in the Columbia Basin will have the opportunity to examine the effect of different no-till drills under field conditions during No-Till Drill Field Day on Thursday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to noon.

The event is being hosted by the Doug Weimar Ranch in Wasco County. Field day participants will meet at The Dalles Auction Yard on Highway 197 at 7:45 a.m. and caravan to the Weimar Ranch.

At the ranch, participants will observe side-by-side plantings by five differently configured no-till drills (including Flexicoil, Concord and Conserva-Pak) using different types of openers, fertilizers and spacings in a recrop winter wheat field. The individual drills and the operators will be there, as well as presentations by local vendors.

The event is sponsored by the Oregon State University Extension Service, Wasco County Soil and Water Conservation District, Natural Resource Conservation Service and Morrow County Grain Growers.
