CORVALLIS - Oregon State University's distance education program, Extended Campus, has earned six national marketing awards from the University Continuing Education Association.

Extended Campus' web site, "K-12 Online," which is geared to students in elementary through high school, earned the association's Gold Award. The Extended Campus "Summer Session" web site earned the association's Silver Award as well as "Most Improved" recognition and a Bronze Award acknowledged the value of the Extended Campus homepage.

Extended Campus web sites can be reached at http://ecampus.oregonstate.edu.

"A web site that serves both prospective and current students is critical in the world of distance education," said Lisa Templeton, Ecampus director of marketing and communications. "Oregon State University Extended Campus employs Internet marketing strategies, such as search engine optimization and search engine marketing, to significantly increase prospective student traffic to our Web site."

Students are served through clear program information on the Ecampus Web site, timely communications, and integration with OSU Enrollment Management, she said. Online tools such as LiveChat, searchable knowledge bases, forums and a variety of other options also aid students, faculty and staff.

Extended Campus' "Ecampus E-News-Course Flash" earned an E-Communication Silver Award, while the department's "Ask Ecampus" logo earned the association's Single Image Logo Bronze Award.

The annual competition includes public and private universities and colleges from throughout the nation. The University Continuing Education Association, based in Washington D.C. and founded in 1915, is among the oldest college and university associations in the United States. The association assists institutions of higher learning and affiliated nonprofit organizations to increase access through a wide array of educational programs and services.
