CORVALLIS - Oregon State University Beaver fans have the chance to make their mark on campus history by choosing the official OSU tartan.
There are three designs to choose from and the winning pattern will be licensed and used for official Beaver products, including clothing, blankets, accessories and other OSU memorabilia. For more information, and to vote, visit the Web site at http://www.hhs.oregonstate.edu/dhe/tartan.
Voting deadline is July 15.
Earlier this year, OSU's Department of Design and Human Environment launched the OSU Tartan Textile Design Competition as an opportunity to give students some real-life experience in applying their designing skills, said Leslie Davis Burns, chair of the department in OSU's College of Health and Human Sciences.
The competition, open only to OSU students, also helped foster excellence in design, as well as encourage and reward creativity in textile design, she said.
A jury of professionals from industry, education and the media chose three finalists - all students in the Department of Design and Human Environment.
"Now it's up to OSU students, faculty, alumni, and friends to choose the first and only official OSU Tartan," Burns said.
Designers of the top three entries all won $100. The designer of the final winning entry will win lunch with OSU President Edward Ray and $500.
