CORVALLIS, Ore. -The Oregon State University Foundation has named Mary Ellen McGillan as vice president for central development programs. McGillan most recently served as assistant vice president for development at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind.

She begins her new position at OSU on Jan. 3.

McGillan has more than 20 years experience in higher education and nonprofit fund-raising, including leadership positions at Santa Clara University, Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina, the American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society.

"Mary Ellen McGillan will be a tremendous addition to the OSU Foundation team," said Shawn L. Scoville, the foundation's senior vice president for development and campaign director. "She is a talented development officer with strong leadership skills and extensive campaign experience."

At the OSU Foundation, McGillan will supervise fund-raising programs in annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, planned giving, regional programs, the student experience and the OSU-Cascades Campus. She will serve as an associate campaign director on the foundation's leadership team for the university's upcoming campaign.

"It's a great opportunity at a great time in OSU history," said McGillan. "Very rarely are you going to find an opportunity to build a comprehensive fund-raising campaign for the first time at an institution of OSU's reputation and stature."
