CORVALLIS - Kami Smith, the assistant director of student media at Oregon State University, has been elected president of the College Newspaper Business and Advertising Managers at the group's recent national convention in New Orleans.

Smith is in charge of advertising and marketing for student media at OSU. She will serve a two-year term as president of the national organization beginning July 1.

"This is a significant honor for Kami and Oregon State University," said Frank Ragulsky, OSU's director of student media. "She's being recognized for her leadership and tremendous ability to organize through contacts she has made across the nation."

Smith has been active in the College Newspaper Business and Advertising Managers organization for several years. She coordinated last year's national conference in Seattle, and served as vice president for awards this year.
