CORVALLIS - Oregon State University will host a farewell reception for Tim White, OSU's provost and executive vice president, and his wife Karen, a faculty member in the College of Health and Human Sciences, on Tuesday, June 8.

The reception, hosted by OSU President Ed Ray and his wife, Beth, will run from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Memorial Union lounge. It is free and open to the public. A brief program will begin at 5 p.m. and include comments from OSU President Ray; Stella Coakley, president of the Faculty Senate; Andy Saultz, who has been president of the Associated Students of Oregon State University; and Tammy Bray, dean of the College of Health and Human Sciences.

Earlier this year, Tim White was named president of the University of Idaho following a national search. He will assume the presidency of that university on July 1.

"Tim and Karen have been wonderful friends and colleagues who have contributed greatly to Oregon State University," said Ed Ray. "Our loss is Idaho's gain, and we wish both of them the best during this new chapter of their lives."

White came to OSU in 1996 as dean of the then-College of Health and Human Performance, and was named provost in 2000. When OSU President Paul Risser accepted a position as chancellor of the Oklahoma System of Higher Education last year, White served as OSU's president for nine months during the search that brought Ed Ray to campus. Ray had been executive vice president and provost at The Ohio State University.

Sabah Randhawa last month was named by Ray as OSU's interim provost and executive vice president.
