CORVALLIS - Wine grape production - including such topics as vine microclimate, nutrient and water management, and vine disease prevention - is the focus of a series of workshops starting March 30, offered by the Oregon State University Extension Service Viticulture Program.

Oregon wine grape growers and others interested in the topic are invited to attend.

The series, called Viticulture 2, consists of 10 workshops to be held over a 10-week period. Participants will meet every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 30 through June 8, on the OSU campus at a location to be announced. Several field trips to vineyards near Corvallis are planned.

Anne Connelly, OSU Extension Viticulture Program leader, is the primary workshop instructor. In addition, several members of the OSU Department of Horticulture and the Department of Botany and Plant Pathology will serve as guest lecturers including, Carmo Vasconcelos, viticulture specialist; John Luna, horticulture, and Jay Pscheidt, plant pathologist.

A fee of $30 is charged for each workshop. The cost of the full 10-workshop package is $300.
