CORVALLIS - Bill Smart, who recently retired as assistant director for admissions at Oregon State University and as OSU's international scholar adviser, has been honored with a Life Membership Award by a professional association.
Smart was one of three members of NAFSA: Association of International Education to be honored at the annual conference in Baltimore in May.
The award is given to retiring members of the association in recognition of their contributions to the field of international education and exchange. The NAFSA conference attracted more than 6,200 international educators from 92 countries.
Smart worked in the Office of International Education at OSU from 1984 to 2003.
