CORVALLIS - Charlotte Riersgard, a dietician with experience managing public health programs in the United States and abroad, has been appointed staff chair of the Oregon State University Extension Service's Lane County Office. She also will serve as leader of the office's nutrition education program.
Riersgard holds a bachelor of science degree in education from the University of Idaho, a master of science degree in dietetics and institutional management from Kansas State University, and a master of international management degree from Whitworth College.
She comes to Lane County from a position as team leader of the Women, Infant and Children Overseas (WIC) program at a U.S. Army post in Bamberg, Germany.
"We are very pleased to have someone with Charlotte's experience and background in Lane County," said Deborah Maddy, assistant director of the OSU Extension Service. "She will be a valuable resource. We look forward to many exciting programs in the county leading to new opportunities for youth and adults."
Riersgard replaces Nellie Oehler and Ross Penhallegon, Extension educators who held the position of staff chair of the Lane County office jointly in recent months on an interim basis.
The Lane County Extension Service Office is at the Lane County Fairgrounds in Eugene.
