ALEM - Emily Cosci has been named the new Oregon State University Extension Sea Grant agent in Marion County and the surrounding area. She replaces Charles Redon as watershed educator.

Cosci had been program manager of the OSU College of Forestry's forest education programs for teachers, classroom volunteers, and youth. She has a bachelor's degree in wildlife and a master of science in science education and natural resources.

Cosci previously has held several positions in natural resources and education, including assistant program director of the Oregon Forestry Education Program's Project Learning Tree and logistics coordinator of the OSU College of Forestry's Natural Resource Summer Program for Youth.

Her background prepares her for the wide variety of activities she will perform, providing private property owners, interested citizens, and organizations with the knowledge they need to assist in improving ecosystem health, salmonid fish populations, and water quality.

Cosci's hobbies include riding and showing her bay horse and scuba diving.

"I feel fortunate to be a part of the Watershed Education Team," Cosci said, "and I'm looking forward to working with such a dedicated group of people."
