CORVALLIS - Percussionist Robert Brudvig of the Oregon State University Department of Music will perform a free marimba recital on Thursday, Oct. 30, as part of OSU's Music à la Carte concert series.

The free performance begins at noon in the Memorial Union Lounge. Audience members are welcome to bring lunch.

Brudvig will perform works by Japanese, Canadian and Australian composers. Two songs will feature the marimba combined with electronic sounds. "Angels," composed by Gary Kulesha, is scored for solo marimba with pre-recorded electronic accompaniment. "Fabian Theory," by Nigel Westlake, combines the marimba with a digital delay.

The other works Brudvig will perform are "Time for Marimba" by Minoru Miki and "Bones" by Harry Freedman.

Upcoming Music à la Carte concerts for fall term are:

  • Nov. 6: OSU Chamber Choir

  • Nov. 13: OSU Jazz Ensemble

  • Nov. 20: OSU Concert Band
