CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University College of Liberal Arts honored its faculty and staff recently with awards for achievements during the past year.
One of the college's top honors, the CLA Advisory Council Excellence Award, was presented to Charlotte Headrick, a professor of speech communication and theater arts. The award includes a $10,000 stipend donated by members of the college's advisory council.
Headrick was cited for her scholarly pursuits, her teaching and her service to the university. She has collaborated with top theater programs throughout Europe, bringing guest lecturers and directors to OSU's University Theatre program. She also has been a director of that program, providing guidance and expanded opportunities for OSU students.

The college also announced its fifth class of "Master Teachers," who present freshmen discovery courses to groups of 25 students. The students take the courses, which are linked by content, throughout their first year. The Master Teachers for 2003-05 are Jennifer Cornell, English; Sally Gallagher, sociology; Sunil Khanna, anthropology; Kurt Peters, ethnic studies; Robert Sahr, political science; and Gregg Walker, speech communication.
