CORVALLIS - Choral music will fill the air at "Spring Sing!" - a concert of choral music by Oregon State University's men's and women's choruses.

Featuring the OSU Meistersingers and Bella Voce, the concert will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Corvallis on Friday, May 30, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door; OSU students will be admitted free with ID.

Bella Voce is a 60-voice women's chorus conducted by Tina Scott, the coordinator of music education at OSU. Concert repertoire will include the moving "Petites Voix" by Francis Poulenc, and "Jabberwocky," composed to the Lewis Carroll text by Corvallis conductor and composer Ron Jeffers. Bella Voce will close with the exciting "Ride on, King Jesus," arranged by Moses Hogan.

The OSU Meistersingers is a 60-voice men's chorus conducted by Steven Zielke, the director of choral studies at OSU. Music will include a section of choral music including "Behold Now, Bless the Lord" (performed in Russian) arranged for male chorus by Chesnokov; "The Awakening," by Joseph Martin; and "Jing-ga-lye-ya," an innovative piece by young Canadian composer, Bruce Sled.

Also included on the program will be "For the Fallen" by Mike Sammes. The composition will be performed in honor of Bart Bailey, a former Meistersinger who died last summer while traveling to Colorado as a fire fighter.

Also performing will be two student-directed a cappella jazz ensembles: "Voices in the Hall" and "Outspoken."
