BEND - A commencement ceremony was recently held for the second graduating class of Oregon State University-Cascades Campus.
The event recognized students receiving degrees from OSU and all of the partnering institutions in the OSU-Cascades Campus. The campus already is offering 20 undergraduate and graduate degrees, a very high number for an institution that has just completed its second year of operation. More degrees will be added by fall term, and enrollment is continuing to increase, said Jay Casbon, campus executive officer.
The commencement address was given by James C. Carnahan, a member of the Board of Directors of Central Oregon Community College and the Board of Advisors of OSU-Cascades Campus, in a ceremony that also recognized graduates of Central Oregon Community College. Tim White, the president of OSU, and a number of other administrators from campus partner institutions also participated in the ceremony.
"OSU-Cascades was designed through a collaborative process with many institutions," Casbon said. "Our graduates know the important benefits of collaboration, learning with a community and achieving worthwhile goals within a context of cooperation."
The students receiving bachelor's degrees from OSU included:
