CORVALLIS - Trees add beauty and value to home landscapes. But not every tree will thrive anywhere. The OSU Extension Service has a publication specifically to help homeowners in southwestern Oregon choose the right tree for specific conditions in their area.

The 70-page publication, "Southwestern Oregon Tree Selection Guide," helps homeowners evaluate site conditions such as space restrictions and exposure to sun, drought and cold. Thirteen separate lists help homeowners narrow down their choices of trees for specific conditions or for characteristics such as color, shade or deer resistance. Descriptions of more than 100 kinds of trees offer additional information such as growth rate, size at maturity, flowers and disease resistance.

"Southwest Oregon Tree Selection Guide," EC 1505, is available by mail for $2.50 per copy plus $3 shipping and handling. Send your request and check or money order payable to OSU to: Publication Orders, Extension and Station Communications, OSU, 422 Kerr Administration, Corvallis, OR 97331-2119.
