CORVALLIS - The Department of Music at Oregon State University will hold music scholarship auditions for the 2003-04 academic year on Feb. 8 (vocal auditions), March 1 (vocal and instrumental auditions), and April 12 (instrumental auditions).

While live auditions are preferred, students unable to attend may send a videotaped performance prior to Feb. 28. Auditions will be held in Benton Hall on the OSU campus.

The OSU Music Department awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships last year. Most scholarships are awarded to music majors, although high-quality instrumentalists who choose other majors will also be considered. The department offers degree options in instrumental, vocal, and piano performance, music education, and music history/composition, as well as a broad array of performance opportunities.

The music faculty includes David Becker, acting director of bands and conductor in residence; Steven Zielke, director of choral studies; Richard Poppino, director of vocal studies; Tina Bull, coordinator of music education; Rachelle McCabe, director of piano studies; and Marlan Carlson, department chair and director of the Corvallis-OSU Symphony Orchestra.
