CORVALLIS - Oregon State University's Music a la Carte concert series will present classical guitarist Craig Einhorn on Thursday, Feb. 6, in OSU's Memorial Union Lounge. The free public concert begins at noon. Audience members are welcome to bring a sack lunch.
Einhorn will present a diverse program including traditional and non-traditional repertoire. Early in the concert he will perform selections from various lute suites by J.S. Bach. Einhorn will continue with works by Spanish composer Frederico Moreno Torroba.
The concert will also include works by composers of Brazilian Choros, including Heitor Villa-Lobos, Joao Pernambuco and Baden Powell. If time permits, Einhorn says he will end with a work by Chet Atkins.
Einhorn has recorded and performed with Mason Williams, and has studied and performed with Benjamin Verdery. He has appeared as soloist with numerous orchestras including the Port Angeles Symphony and the Oregon Mozart Players. Appearances at festivals have included, The Art and the Vinyard Festival, Hinman Vinyards Summer Concerts, Oregon Country Fair, Oregon State Fair, Salem World Beat Festival, Untermyer Performing Arts Series (New York), and many others.
In 1995 Einhorn completed his first CD, "In with the Old, In with the New." Barbara Walters used several tracks from this CD on national television. His second CD, "Obras," included special guest Mason Williams. In September of 2002 he released a live CD entitled "Craig Einhorn, Live at the Old Siskiyou Barn," which was recorded just outside of Ashland.
He completed his master's degree in classical guitar performance at Arizona State University in 1990 and a bachelor of guitar performance in 1988 at the State University of New York. Einhorn teaches classical guitar at Lane Community College in Eugene.
