CORVALLIS - Oregon State University students finding it tough to cover expenses with recent state university tuition hikes may get some help from the university's Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

In the wake of the state's financial crunch, students are facing an additional $157 tuition surcharge per term, said Emilio Vejil, OSU associate director of Financial Aid and Scholarships.

"With this increase in tuition, students who have increased financial need can contact our office for a File Review Request form," Vejil said. The form is available on the World Wide Web at: http://oregonstate.edu/admin/finaid/pdfs/FILEREV.PDF.

Filing the form leads to a review of a student's financial circumstances and may result in loans, grants or other forms of tuition assistance, Vejil said.

"Most of the aid available will be in the form of student loans," Vejil said. "We'll look at requests on a first-come, first-serve basis, so it is important for students to initiate their requests as soon as possible."
