CORVALLIS - Oregon State University will host a Women in Concert series on Thursday nights beginning March 6. The series will continue on March 13 and March 20. The concerts, which are free and open to all ages, will begin at 7 p.m. in OSU's Escape Club in the campus International Forum.

Folk rocker Brenda Weiler starts the series on March 6. Weiler, who recently relocated to Portland from Minnesota, won the Minnesota Music Award for Best Singer-Songwriter in 2002 and the Minnesota Music Award for Best Folk-Acoustic Artist in 2001.

Her albums include "Brenda Weiler Live," "Fly Me Back" and "Trickle Down."

Noted for her solo acoustic guitar work, she didn't get serious about the instrument until the end of her senior year of high school.

Jamie Anderson, another acoustic folk performer, takes the stage on March 13. Touring nationally since 1987, she is known for her solid songwriting and stage shows, during which she sometimes treats audiences to baton twirling and belly dancing.

Her albums include "Listen," "Drive All Night," and Never Assume."

Lorna Hunt's performance on March 20 wraps up the series. The folk artist has been writing songs for about a decade and singing and touring for about four years. Hunt's albums include "Sentimental Bedlam" and "All in One Day."

The performances are sponsored by OSU's Memorial Union Program Council, the campus Women's Center and the Associated Students of OSU Women's Task Force.
