CORVALLIS - David Hamby, an associate professor of nuclear engineering and radiation health physics at Oregon State University, has been appointed to the Oregon Board of Radiologic Technology, for a three-year term beginning in July.
This board is charged with overseeing the agency that issues licenses to about 5,000 radiologic technologists in Oregon. The board regulates the use of ionizing radiation on human beings, adopts rules governing standards of practice, investigates alleged violations, and can grant, suspend, deny or revoke licenses.
Hamby is an expert in environmental health physics, environmental assessment, biokinetics, radiation detection and risk, and other topics. He has been on the OSU faculty since 1999.
