CORVALLIS - Visitors to this year's homecoming at Oregon State University will have an opportunity to have lunch with the university's president, learn about winemaking, and tour the newest residence hall in the state university system.

All of these programs are available in "Classes Without Quizzes," a program now in its fifth year that provides homecoming attendees with a chance to learn more about the university and attend unique OSU classes. The program will be held on Friday, Nov. 1.

Advance registration is required for the program. For Oregon State University Alumni Association members the cost for classes and lunch is $16, for non-members the cost is $18. The price for classes only is $6 for members and $8 for non-members. For more information call 1-877-305-3759 or register online at http://alumni.oregonstate.edu/index.html. The program has one morning and two afternoon sessions. The morning session, which begins at 9 a.m., features "Riding the Vomit Comet," a program detailing how OSU's College of Engineering is working with NASA to develop micro-gravity compatible technologies. "From the Grape to the Glass," a class on the process of winemaking that offers participants a chance to taste wine.

Following the morning session, individuals can join OSU President Paul Risser for lunch and a campus update. Lunch will be held at the CH2M HILL Alumni Center.

Participants will have the choice of attending two different 50-minute afternoon sessions to be held at the alumni center. The first session, which begins at 1 p.m., includes:

• "The Mysteries of Getting Published." April Henry, an Oregon State alum and mystery writer, will discuss her journey into publishing.
• "The Legacy of Corvallis College." George Edmonston, editor of the Oregon Stater Magazine, will reveal the achievements of past OSU alumni.

The second session, which begins at 2 p.m., includes:

• "The Deficit Made Me Do It." This class looks at how rational actions resulted in unethical behavior in one of the nation's largest business scandals.
• "Tour of Halsell Hall." Participants will have the opportunity to tour OSU's newest campus residence hall.
