CORVALLIS - Oregon State University will celebrate the 75th anniversary of its Child Development Center with a short program and reception on Friday, Nov. 1, at the center in Bates Hall.

The program begins at 4 p.m. with self-guided tours of the Bates Hall facility, followed by presentations at 4:30 p.m. from OSU President Paul Risser and Clara Pratt, who chairs the OSU Department of Human Development and Family Sciences. A reception will follow.

The event is free and open to the public.

The center, which actually was established in 1926, supports student training, interdisciplinary research and an inclusive preschool program for children and families from the surrounding community. Housed in the Bates Hall Family Study Center, it serves more than 150 children and their families.

Research interests include cross-cultural teacher-student relationships, pro-social development, emergent literacy, and developmentally appropriate pre-school learning practices.
