CORVALLIS - This Halloween, scientists at Oregon State University will bring out the creepiest, crawliest, and crunchiest creatures for the public to sample during their howling celebration of Museum Days.

On Oct. 29-30, LaSells Stewart Center will be crawling with spooky and spectacular beasts from the collection depths of OSU's departments of Entomology, Botany and Plant Pathology, and Fisheries and Wildlife.

Shake hands with a walking stick, cuddle a cockroach, or come face-to-face with an emperor scorpion. And don't miss the maggot races, which run every half-hour.

Cauldren-stirring entomologists will offer visitors the best in bug-cuisine, including dry-roasted grasshoppers and stir-fried mealworms. And for dessert, try cricket-and-mealworm cookies.

For those with more sublime tastes, there will be fresh Oregon apples to savor while viewing native plants and gorgeous butterfly displays.

The doors will creak open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, at LaSells Stewart Center, 875 S.W. 26th Street in Corvallis. Museum Days is free and open to the public.
