CORVALLIS - Reed player Mike Curtis, keyboardist Dave Leslie, and drummer Dave Storrs bring their world music-based, original jazz to the Music a la Carte concert series on Thursday, Oct. 31. The free public concert begins at noon in the Memorial Union Lounge on the Oregon State University campus.

Curtis, who teaches woodwinds at OSU, will play sax, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, tarogato, recorders, and various ethnic winds. Leslie, a Portland jazz artist, will bring his accordion, and drummer and Louie Records producer Storrs covers his end of the stage with exotic percussion from around the world. Popular local bassist Mark Bielman will join the trio for this performance.

Curtis, Leslie, and Storrs have 25 CDs produced among them, and 20 years spent together playing Northwest clubs and bar mitzvahs. As members of "Oomph!" and the Mike Curtis Klezmer Quartet, they have toured Europe and Asia. Their compositions range from klezmer and Latin to Irish and South African. Their frequent and sometimes zany, improvisations make the most of the moment.
