CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Department of Music and Opera Theater Corvallis will present an evening of comedy, drama and dance called "A Night of American Culture: Pizza, Beer, and Ballet" April 12-13 at the Majestic Theatre in Corvallis. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m.
The evening includes two one-act American operas directed by David Howell: "La Pizza con Funghi" ("Mushroom Pie") by Seymour Barab, a comical satire of Italian opera; and Henry Mollicone's drama, "The Face on the Barroom Floor," one of the most frequently performed short operas in America.
The Willamette Apprentice Ballet will also perform a series of "dance snapshots" to Samuel Barber's "Souvenirs," with original choreography by Catherine Levi.
The operas will feature soprano Amy Hansen, mezzo-soprano Gale Hazel, tenor David Gustafson, and baritone Richard Lippold.
