CORVALLIS - The Oregon State University Extension Service 4-H Youth program will celebrate 4-H's 100th birthday in conjunction with the upcoming Oregon 4-H Leaders Forum April 5-6 at the CH2M-HILL Alumni Center on the OSU campus.

The two-day event will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5, with a series of workshops for 4-H leaders. A reception, "Celebration of 100 Years of 4-H," will be held between 5:30 and 7:15 p.m. Friday. All Oregon 4-Hers, past and present, are invited to attend the reception.

"We especially hope that as many 4-H members, leaders and supporters as possible, whether currently active in 4-H or not, can join us for the Friday evening reception," said Lillian Larwood, OSU Extension 4-H Youth specialist. "It'll be a time to celebrate what the 4-H program has accomplished and look ahead to future opportunities."

The second day of the forum begins Saturday with an opening assembly at 8:20 a.m., followed by more workshops and a recognition lunch from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Displays, tours and a silent auction are also planned. Featured speakers Julie White, Janette Staton and Johnnie Freeman - all Benton County 4-H alumni - will share experiences and discuss the impact of 4-H on their lives.

The conference will be hosted by the Benton County 4-H Leaders Association and sponsored by the Oregon 4-H Leaders Association and the OSU Department of 4-H Youth Development Education.

The cost of full registration for the Oregon 4-H Leaders Forum is $35 before March 25 and $40 thereafter. There is no charge for those attending the Friday evening birthday celebration. For more information, contact Mona Easley at 541-737-1327, or by e-mail: mona.easley@orst.edu.
