CORVALLIS - An Oregon State University student from Portland has earned OSU's 2002 Jo Anne Trow Woman of Distinction Award.

Senior Melissa White received the award, and was cited for her work as a woman in community leadership. The award honors former OSU vice provost Jo Anne Trow.

White, who is majoring in agriculture and natural resource and environmental law and policy, has served as vice president of the Associated Students of OSU. She also was on the board of directors for the Washington, D.C.-based lobbying group, the United States Student Association.

At Oregon State, White chaired the Student Health Insurance Committee and also served on the campus Redesign Concept Committee.
