CORVALLIS - Adding value to a food product with innovative packaging will be the focus of a workshop Feb. 14 and 15 at Oregon State University.
The workshop, sponsored by the OSU Extension Service, will put special emphasis on innovations in fruit and vegetable packaging, said Yanyun Zhao, a professor of food science and technology at OSU.
The two-day program, in Room 238, Weigand Hall, will include work with appropriate packaging materials, sizes, shapes, appearance and health and nutrition information. Participants will design their own packages for novel value-added products, according to Zhao.
Registration for the workshop costs $90 for one day and $180 for two. The fee includes materials and lunches. Space will be limited to 25 students.
