CORVALLIS - State gubernatorial candidates will outline their platforms and be available for question-and-answer sessions at Oregon State University during the next several weeks.
The sessions in the OSU Memorial Union Lounge are free and open to the public and begin Monday, Feb. 25 with a presentation at 7 p.m. by Democratic candidate Jim Hill, a former state treasurer.
Ron Saxton, Republican and former president of the Portland School Board will speak at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, followed by former state representative and Republican candidate Kevin Mannix at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 27.
Bev Stein, Democratic candidate and former Multnomah County commissioner is scheduled at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, and former state Supreme Court justice and Democrat Ted Kulongoski will speak at 4 p.m. on Monday, March 4.
The talks are sponsored by Associated Students of Oregon State University. The student group does not endorse any of the candidates and is non-partisan, said Jeff Wright, ASOSU director of public relations.
"I think it is very important that students and the community have an opportunity to hear what these candidates have to say," Wright said. "This election will undoubtedly have a huge effect on the state, the community and OSU."
The state primary election is May 21.
