CORVALLIS - Ilene K. Kleinsorge, who chairs the Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Management at Oregon State University, has been named interim dean of OSU's College of Business.
She has been a faculty member in the College of Business since 1987.
Kleinsorge will assume the duties of interim dean from Sabah Randhawa, who last month was named the university's interim provost and executive vice president.
She chaired the college's Department of Accounting, Finance and Information Management from 1995 to 2000, and returned to that position in 2001.
Most of Kleinsorge's teaching and research has focused on cost and managerial accounting systems, with an emphasis on multinational companies. She is researching how multinational corporations are addressing the need to assure ethical behavior in business decision-making.
"Ilene has the leadership skills, the enthusiasm and the energy to help the College of Business," said Tim White, OSU's interim president. "She has been a very active in service to both the college and the university, and her experience and perspective will be invaluable."
Kleinsorge graduated with honors in 1977 from Emporia State University in Kansas, and received a Ph.D. in business from the University of Kansas in 1988. Before joining the OSU faculty, she worked as a licensed practical nurse, an accountant, and a financial analyst in Kansas.
The winner of several OSU teaching awards, Kleinsorge received the Burlington Resources Foundation Faculty Achievement Award in 1991.
She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Institute of Management Accountants, and the American Accounting Association. Kleinsorge is also a reviewer for four professional business journals.
Oregon State is conducting a national search for a dean of business.
