CORVALLIS - Applications are available for Oregon State University's 11th annual summer music camp program. "The Singer and the Stage," a one-week residential program for high school singers, will be held July 7-13 on the OSU campus in Corvallis.
"The Singer and the Stage" offers solo voice, choral, light opera and drama experiences for high school students who wish to improve their performance skills.
Students study singing and stage performance with OSU performing arts faculty, including Richard Poppino, director of vocal studies; Steven Zielke, director of choral studies; and Tina Bull, music education coordinator.
Professional voice instructors lead solo performance classes and offer optional private voice lessons. Campers experience the challenge of creating an energetic final public performance during one concentrated week of preparation.
Tuition is $450, and includes all instruction, meals, residence hall housing, and recreational activities. Advanced OSU music students serve as counselors and activity directors.
Students are encouraged to apply early, as space is limited. Applicants will be accepted based on experience, teacher recommendation, and voice type. A $100 deposit is due at application time. For information, contact Tina Bull, camp director, at 541-737-5603 or Tina.Bull@orst.edu.
