CORVALLIS - The 2001 James M. Craig Memorial Lecture at Oregon State University will be presented on Nov. 8-9, featuring one of the world's leading experts on AIDS and the HIV virus.

Dr. Jay Levy, a professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, will speak on "The Importance of Innate Immunity in Preventing HIV Infection and Disease Progression." Levy is internationally recognized for his work on AIDS and co-discovered the HIV virus.

Levy will present the same lecture twice, and each presentation is free and open to the public. The first lecture site has more room to accommodate a large community audience, and will be Thursday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Courtyard Inn, 2435 N.W. Harrison Blvd. in Corvallis. The second presentation in a smaller forum will be Friday, Nov. 9, at noon in room 115A/B of the CH2M-Hill Alumni Center on the OSU campus.

The Craig Memorial Lecture is sponsored by the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Microbiology and Department of Food Science and Technology.
