CORVALLIS - Educators, scientists, agricultural producers, conservationists and agricultural writers are among the 35 men and women recently honored as Diamond Pioneers by the Oregon State University College of Agricultural Sciences.

The 35 new Diamond Pioneers were guests at a luncheon hosted by Dean Thayne Dutson at the OSU Alumni Center. Phil Ward, director of the Oregon Department of Agriculture, spoke at the event.

The Diamond Pioneer Agricultural Career Achievement Registry was started when the college observed its 75th anniversary. The registry recognizes the achievements of those 75 and older in agriculture and natural resources and their support of OSU programs.

This years pioneers were nominated for the honor by agricultural organizations, friends and relatives, and by former co-workers.

Those being honored are Alvin Friedrich, Canby; John F. Bell, Marguerite and Homer Campbell, Glenn and Mildred Harvey, Donald Helfer, C. E. Horner, Lawrence Merriam; Jim Vomocil, and James Witt, all of Corvallis; B. J. Rogers, Dexter; Margaret Teufel, Hillsboro. Bob Duckwall and Dick Duckwall, Hood River; Bob Nixon, Junction City; George Wai Chin, Klamath Falls; Harold Evans, Lake Oswego; James Ottoman, Malin; C. William and Christine Moore, Oris Rudd and Paul Saito, Ontario; Helen Wagner, Oregon City; Fred Cholick and Thomas W. Thompson, Portland.

Rod Johnson, Powell Butte; Bob Jappert, Redmond; Don Davidson, St. Paul; Robert Baum and Bob Ohling, Salem; Richard Barnes and Melvin Satrum, Silverton; Gladys Barclay, Tidewater; and John Frizzell, Davidson, Saskatchewan, Canada.
