CORVALLIS - Ron Adams, dean of the College of Engineering at Oregon State University, has been named a fellow of Imaging Science & Technology, an international professional organization focusing on imaging science and engineering.

Adams, who has been dean of the OSU college since 1998, was cited by the organization "for his work in the areas of ink development, print head design, and manufacturing processes for ink jet and solid ink printers."

Before coming to OSU, Adams was vice president of research and development for the Color Printing and Imaging Division of Tektronix, Inc. He was a key executive in the start-up and growth of that division.

Adams also has been a researcher at MIT Lincoln Laboratories, a lieutenant and manager of research and development for the U.S. Air Force's Space and Missile System's Organization, and a professor of engineering at OSU. He is an inventor on five U.S. patents and has written more than 40 technical publications dealing with imaging technologies.

Most recently, Adams has been a leader in Oregon's statewide effort to boost engineering and computer science education.
