CORVALLIS - Friends and co-workers of Duane Johnson, an Oregon State University Extension 4-H youth development faculty member for 40 years, have started a fund drive to establish a scholarship in recognition for his work with youth and adults in Oregon.

According to Linda Erickson, 4-H youth development faculty member in Clackamas County, the goal is to establish an endowed scholarship in the OSU Foundation. She is chairing the effort.

Johnson started his Extension career in Multnomah County in 1959, moving to the state 4-H office on the OSU campus in 1970. He officially retired Dec. 31 and will be honored with a recognition dinner Saturday, Feb. 5, at the CH2M-HILL Alumni Center in Corvallis.
