CORVALLIS - The 1999 annual conference of the Northwest Center for Small Fruits Research (NCSFR), will be held Tuesday and Wednesday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, at the Doubletree Hotel Lloyd Center in Portland. The center is headquartered at Oregon State University.

Bill Nelson, vice president for government relations of the American Vintners Association, will give the keynote address, "NCSFR - A Partnership Based On Enterprise, Place and Quality."

Nelson formerly served as executive director of the Oregon Wine Advisory Board. The American Vintners Association is the national association of American wineries. It is located in Washington, D.C.

Registration for the conference will begin at 7:15 a.m. on Nov. 30. Morning sessions on pest management, berry and grape processing, and production/physiology will begin at 9:15 a.m. Afternoon sessions on wine and genetics will begin at 2 p.m.

The registration fee of $80 will cover all sessions, including lunch, dinner, and a copy of the conference proceedings.

The Northwest Center for Small Fruits Research is a consortium of the Oregon State University, Washington State University and University of Idaho Agricultural Experiment Stations, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service and the small fruits industry.
