CORVALLIS - William H. Gerwick, professor of pharmacy at Oregon State University will discuss his research in creating anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory compounds from blue-green algae at a public luncheon May 25 at the CH2M-HILL Alumni Center on the OSU campus.

Gerwick's presentation will be part of OSU Over Lunch, a joint program of the OSU Alumni Association and OSU Portland Center. A buffet lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Gerwick's presentation to follow at 12:15 p.m.

For the past 15 years, Gerwick's laboratory in OSU's College of Pharmacy has been studying marine algae and its potential for producing useful bioactive compounds. Gerwick will provide an overview of his program and its collaboration with other scientists.

Cost for the luncheon is $10 for OSU Alumni Association members and $12 for non-members. People not interested in the luncheon may come for the presentation only at 12:15 p.m., free of charge.
