CORVALLIS - Tony Lenz, an Oregon State University senior from John Day, has completed his academic work in the College of Pharmacy and will work at a series of "externship" rotations in 1999 and 2000.

Lenz, a 1989 graduate of Grant Union High School, is the son of Jim and Carolyn Lenz of John Day. He received a Ford Family Foundation scholarship to attend OSU that paid about 90 percent of his school costs. The foundation is associated with Roseburg Forest Products.

His four rotations, each lasting six weeks, will take Lenz throughout the state and enable him to experience a variety of clinical settings. They include: the Peace Health Clinic in Eugene; Lebanon General Hospital, Lebanon; Indian Health Services, Warm Springs; and St. Charles Medical Center, Bend.

"I'll be working with pharmacists and doctors, looking over people's drug needs and seeing if they are okay," Lenz said. "It will be a great experience."

Lenz is employed as a pharmacy intern with Gateway Fred Meyer in Portland. He will graduate in June of 2000 with a bachelor's degree in pharmacy.
