CORVALLIS - Oregon State University will host a multi-agency auction on Saturday, Nov. 7, in White City during which hundreds of items will be available for bidding, ranging from a walk-in freezer, to a 10-ton floor jack, to an 81-foot truss bridge.
Bidders looking for smaller, more conventional goods will find computers, chairs, desks, tables and furniture available.
And for those looking for something a little more on the unusual side, there's a spittoon.
Items available in the auction may be previewed from 8 to 10 a.m. Bidding will begin at 10 a.m. The auction will be held at Jackson County Public Works, 200 Antelope Road in White City.
A number of vehicles will be auctioned off, according to Brian Thorsness, property manager at OSU and, with Patsy Hendricks, one of the two auctioneers who will work Saturday. Vehicles include a fire truck, two Jeep Cherokees, a 1967 Camaro, a 1991 Toyota 4-Runner, plus vans, pickups and a 1980 tanker truck.
Equipment available includes fax machines, copiers, slide projectors, a commercial dishwasher, a self-priming pump, commercial electric ovens, a shop vacuum, a drafting table, a trailer axle, and a map microfiche viewer.
There also will be gardening tools and, for those who really want to move the dirt around, a 1969 25-ton crane, and a 1992 Cat 426B backhoe.
"There literally will be hundreds of different items and more are being added daily," Thorsness said.
More information on the auction is available by calling Jackson County at 541-826-3122, or OSU Property Management, 541-737-3102.
