CORVALLIS - Salah Ferhi, a professor from Algeria who is visiting the United States as a Fulbright Scholar, will give a pair of free public lectures at Oregon State University. The lectures - one in English and one in French - will focus on ties between Algeria and France.

Ferhi is a visiting Fulbright Scholar at Clemson University in the Department of History and Geography. He is a researcher in the Institute of Geography and Land Management at the University of Oran in Algeria.

His English lecture, "The Algerian Migration in France and its Effects," will begin at 4 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30, in OSU's Memorial Union Room 206.

His lecture in French, "L'Algerie: Espace et Societe," will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 1, in Memorial Union 208.

Ferhi will discuss how the large Algerian migration to France has had vast repercussions for both countries.

His OSU appearances are sponsored by the university's Department of History and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures.
